Diego’s Taqueria
38 John St
(845) 338-2816
Diego’s is the King Kong of the Kingston taco scene. They always have interesting specials and the owner is truly about that taco life: he has one tattooed on his leg. It’s hard to imagine Uptown Kingston without Diego’s, but Lucy’s Tacos was in that space just three years ago!

Santa Fe Uptown
11 Main St
(845) 339-7777
This is one of three locations in the Hudson Valley’s Santa Fe family; they also are in Tivoli and Woodstock. They offer Southwestern-style tacos as well as burritos and top-shelf ‘ritas at a gigantic U-shaped bar. Photo Credit: Tillysnest
Armadillo
97 Abeel St.
(845) 339-1550
The ‘Dillo is the longest-standing stalwart of the Kingston taco scene. They’ve been holding it down on Ally Mc’Abeel Street for over 30 years, and are a go-to for frozen margs, fish tacos and unlimited “chippies”on a hot night. Their loyalty points program is home to the most patient person in the Hudson Valley: someone has saved up almost $1,200 in free Armadillo food.
Mole Mole
23 Broadway
(845) 338-4765
Like Santa Fe, Mole Mole is part of a string of locally-owned restaurants; this one started in the early 2000s on Main Street in Poughkeepsie. Their location on the Rondout in Kingston is the Oaxacan Ying to Armadillo’s Tex-Mex Yang. And if Instagram is to be believed, they’ve got cinnamon nachos.
Crazy Bowlz
301 Frank Sottile Blvd
(845) 382-6955
Hidden among the chain stores of Route 9W, in the Walmart parking lot is Crazy Bowlz, a Mexican-Asian fast-casual eatery that gives eaters an unprecedented amount of freedom in combining bold flavors. Ever wonder what a chicken teriyaki taco would taste like paired with bubble tea? Crazy Bowlz is for you. It’s also one of the only places in the region that even has bubble tea.
Casa Villa
395 Albany Ave
(845) 331-7646
Casa Villa’s menu is a mix of the traditional Mexican dishes, as well as some Tex-Mex and Italian food. They’re well-known for their day-long outdoor celebrations of Mexican Independence Day and Cinco De Mayo on Albany Ave.
Alebrijes
298 Wall St
(845) 853-8388
Located in uptown Kingston, Alebrijes will satisfy all of your cravings for authentic Mexican food… unless it’s a Tuesday, because Alebrijes is closed on Tuesdays. Plan your visit accordingly, and check out their menu here.

La Hacienda
680 Broadway
(845) 802-0855
If you’ve been down Broadway in Kingston you’ve probably noticed the beautiful mural of the girl with purple hair and Day of the Dead make up. It’s on the side of La Hacienda, a traditional Mexican and Central American restaurant that also delivers.

Just For You
375 Broadway
(845) 853-8020
Just For You on Broadway has been feeding Midtown Kingston for years, standing out as a source of authentic Oaxacan food across from the HealthAlliance hospital campus. They’re trucking along even though one of their two owners was deported amidst much protest. Work is underway to turn the upstairs of the building into an event space and art gallery.
Mi Casita
720 Broadway
(845) 339-2134
Mi Casita is a small family-run Salvadorian restaurant that’s great for take-out or delivery. It’s also the fifth and final taco place located right on Broadway; there are few finer culinary journeys than eating your way up and down Kingston’s main thoroughfare.
Taqueria Poblano
8 Van Buren St
(845) 331-7834
Another authentic Mexican restaurant, TP is located just off the beaten path of Broadway in Kingston. You can get a taco for $1.50!
